Abstract

It was tested the effectiveness Trichoderma harzianum against Elsinoe sp. by means of dual cultures, 10 isolates of T. harzianum and 10 isolates of the pathogen collected from young plants of Citrus sinensis were used. A completely randomized design was used, with the following indicators: growth rate of T. harzianum and Elsinoe sp. percentage of growth inhibition and the antagonistic activity in dual cultures based on the scale of Bell et al., (1982). The results obtained showed that the evaluated T. harzianum strain inhibited the isolates of Elsinoe sp. The length of time T. harzianum covered Elsinoe sp. was at 72 hours and the rest at 144 hours, based on the aforementioned scale the confrontations were positioned at 1 and 2 correspondingly. In the statistical evaluation (p <= 0.05), and comparing the results of the dual tests with respect to the controls, the evaluated treatments showed significant differences, where it was possible to detect variations in the inhibitory effect exerted by T. harzianum on the Growth of Elsinoe sp.
