This article presents the development of a device that facilitates the work of specialists in Traumatology and Orthopedics in the Surgical Technique of placement of an intramedullary nail in the fracture of a long bone (femur) that will allow the location of the holes for distal locking in intramedullary nails by magnetic methods, in the absence of image intensifiers, this device is proposed for the location of distal holes of pierced hollow nails such as Targon Universal, Osteo, among others. The objectives of this device are: to reduce the recovery time of the patients, reduction of the time of use of the operating room as well as a considerable reduction in the exposure of the surgical team to X-rays. This device is aimed at hospitals that do not have the sufficient resources for the acquisition of specialized equipment for this Technique. The methodology begins by knowing the different techniques and surgical treatments of the fractures (femur). The difficulties encountered by the trauma surgeon in performing a femur operation and having to block distally were investigated. The method of locating holes where the locking screws were inserted was investigated. As a result of the development, tests have been performed with real bones and muscle simulations, obtaining an accuracy of 99% when locating the nail of the intramedullary nail and with this device is intended to reduce the time of the surgical intervention up to 50%. The degree of acceptance that will be achieved in the health sector will be favorable.
