Abstract

The main deaths in the world are from cardiovascular diseases. 90% of the heart attacks that occur are associated with classic risk factors, such as hypertension, high cholesterol levels, smoking, diabetes or obesity.  This article shows the development of an application for Android mobile devices that enables heart rate measurement and arrhythmia detection in people over 55 years of age who are at rest. This system was carried out with a Scosche Rhythm bracelet, for the acquisition of data that is sent through Bluetooth communication to a mobile device with the application installed, the application is in charge of treating the data that is stored and detecting the presence of an arrhythmia, the results obtained in the tests carried out with people at rest suffering from cardiovascular diseases were optimal, because the operation of the application allowed us to observe the measurement of the heart rate in real time and detect the cardiac arrhythmias that occurred  in 95% of the total. The application is developed for an Android system that maintains compatibility with most mobile phones.
