Abstract

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) play a vital role as economic and productive drivers in Mexico. In the dynamic landscape of SMEs, effective management of human resources emerges as a pivotal factor for maintaining relevance in the market. This article addresses challenges within the Human Resources (HR) department, with a specific focus on issues related to miscommunication, a demotivating work environment, and salary concerns. Conducted as an exploratory and descriptive cross-sectional study, utilizing a semi-structured survey administered to 15 HR department employees in 2022, this research critically examines the working environment within the SME sector. The findings highlight role clarity but underscore discrepancies in salary satisfaction and aspirations for salary increases. While team cohesion is evident, areas identified for improvement encompass recognition and the overall work environment. In light of these findings, the research proposes strategies aimed at enhancing performance and job satisfaction.
