Abstract

In the period from 2017 to 2021, precision agriculture techniques were implemented in potato (Solanum tuberosum)  cultivation in the Agricultural Valley of Guasave, specifically in a 72.25 hectare lot called "Baja" of Agrícola Rábago. This was a response to the challenges facing potato (Solanum tuberosum) production globally, such as climate change, which has led to the proliferation of pests and diseases, resulting in an increase in the application of agrochemicals, which in turn has raised . production costs and decreased the profitability of agricultural products. The implementation of precision agriculture techniques in this crop plot had a significant impact. It helped reduce costs associated with irrigation, pest control and fertilization, resulting in an increase in profit margin. In particular, a cost of 32.6% was achieved in production, meaning that the income generated by potato production considerably exceeded the costs involved in its cultivation. This precision agriculture-based approach not only resulted in greater profitability, but also contributed to reducing uncertainty in potato production in the region. In a context where climatic challenges and pests are a constant concern, the adoption of precision agriculture techniques offered an effective solution to improve the efficiency and profitability of potato agriculture in the Guasave Agricultural Valley.
