Reduction of Production Line Time through the Implementation of Lean Manufacturing

This research addresses the issue of operational inefficiency in an automotive seat assembly line belonging to a manufacturing company located in H. Matamoros, Tamaulipas. The objective was to improve the performance of the line through the application of lean manufacturing principles. To achieve this, the DMAIC methodology was employed, allowing the identification and analysis of the main causes of prolonged operation times in various workstations. During the course of the study, root cause analysis tools were applied, and improvements were implemented in the most affected stations. Subsequently, line balancing and value stream analysis were carried out, enabling process optimization and the establishment of a new operational configuration. Finally, control mechanisms were introduced to ensure the sustainability of the results achieved. The findings of this research demonstrate that the structured application of Lean tools can significantly contribute to improving operational efficiency in assembly processes within the automotive sector.
